The Athens Drive Jaguars took the field at Barton College with a vengeance, defeating the Apex Friendship Patriots 12-9.
Some thought it would be an easy win for the Pats, but the Jags said no. There were some great offensive and defensive plays, with the team working together to get the ball across the field and into the Patriots' net.
Zander Adkins scored the first goal (he also had 2 assists), kicking things off for Tyler Fields (3 goals and 4 assists), Jay Cohn (3 goals and 2 assists), Caleb Deak (2 goals), Jack Danjczek (2 goals) and Brower Evenhouse (1 goal).
On defense, Wes Cohn had 10 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers. Brandon Lee had 4 ground balls and 1 caused turnover. Webb Linton stayed on Friendship’s best player for the entire game, holding him to 1 goal and 1 assist when he had been averaging over 5 points/game. Way to go, .Webb!
Liam Craig was a force at the faceoff, securing 11 ground balls and going 84% at the dot,
Cali was not shy about protecting his cage either, having 11 saves with a 55% save percentage. These saves put him over 300 saves for his career. Congrats, Cali!
Tonight the Jaguars have another conference game against the Leesville Highschool Pride at Athens.
